*43 Make a Colour Wheel with fabric swatches

So? What does one do when one is fortunate enough to take a trip to Indiana, USA.  Well, one plans to have a couple hand work projects on the ride.
1/ I am working on a hexagon wall hanging. Couldn't find very much Hawaiian material, and even was bold enough to ask Rob (Emily's boyfriend perhaps fiance in the near future) for one of his shirts.....oh my goodness Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!! He didn't say no, he just sort of ignored my request. He may pay for this along the way one day......
So being a real trooper, and knowing I wanted to make a Grandmother's Flower Garden hexagon wall quilt, I went to Goodwill and was fortunate enough to purchase 6 men's swim trunks. Not what I had wanted originally, but hey, in a pinch....you know the rest.

2/ Decided to create this wonderful Colour Wheel minature. So with cut pieces in hand, needle and thread, I designed not just one, but 2 colour wheels.  Here's a bit of background.  My colour wheel will stay in my sewing room for future enjoyment,

Colour Wheel #2 was titled the name of Winter's Palette. I have also made a Dresdan Plate design and will be sending it to a friend in Quilters Who Care on-line quilting group with the idea that it will represent WINTER WONDERLAND MUG RUG exchange for November 2014.

What fun I had....came home and actually finished them both. This project has been great. Helped me complete my 3rd of four season exchanges, and even more, I tried a couple different tricks when quilting.  My Colour Wheel has black and white verigated thread as the colour of quilting choice....it is growing on me. At first it looked like a bit of a rain storm surrounding all my bright colours.
The Winter's Palette will be a bit oversized should have been 6x9" but it is more like 9x10" finished. However, on this Winter fun I tried quilting with metallic thread. At first it was a bit of a challenge, but eventually after making a needle change and tension adjustment on the machine, I finished it.  Wow, what fun and a sense of adventure.

Enjoy the Photos. I believe I have met this challenge with flying colours.
