* 3: Make a Log Cabin

Meet my Boo-ti-ful Log Cabin Ghost Wallhanging

There is always a story to tell isn't there?  I spent the year 2011 and 2012 being the group leader for the Sarnia Quilters' Guild YAHOO group. It was a great challenge for me because I am not only basically shy, I tend to get very shaky when speaking in public.  I feel that I grew inside and in gaining confidence by the time the year was over.

One of the events I held for several of the members was to have a Mystery Wallhanging Challenge.  Yes, those who signed up were given monthly instructions in order to complete this cute little guy by the June meeting.  Of course I had no idea of the challenge involved for myself.  I had to make one for sure, even if no other members participated.  Mum and I spent one weekend moving, turning, and remaking the log cabin blocks until they resembled the original pattern.  Of course as you can see looking at the photo that never happened. My Pumpkin is an original, one of a kind deal.  Nevermind that is what learning is all about.  By Halloween of 2012 my Boo-ti-ful was hanging in our front door window, completely finished.....Yeah.

We had several of the members also bring theirs for show and tell at the June Guild Banquet Reveal.   I am happy with my little guy and glad that I had this opportunity to learn how to make and use LOG CABIN BLOCKS.
Audrey Carr (holding my Boo), Rose Lanning a friend I met through this challenge, Sue Gimple, a really good friend who loves to tea dye and use country colours, and looking down Sheila Turner......

Wow these were very impressive when all put together. Same directions, but different tones.  Also it helped when the sewer knew what she was doing.  :)
notice all the different pumpkin shapes  :)
